Designed for boats less than 9 meters (30 feet) in length, the Compact Reactor 40 hydraulic marine autopilot relieves you of manually holding the rudder to maintain course at moderate to high speeds 1 . Lean back at the helm and enjoy the time on the water, while the robust, 9-axis AHRS technology provides comfortable sailing.
With this autopilot, available in 3 different equipment packages, you can configure your autopilot based on the features you need and how much you want to sacrifice. Purchase the starter pack (compatible plotter required 2 ), add a GHC ™ 20 marine autopilot controller, or add both a GHC 20 and Shadow Drive ™ .
The autopilot is easy to install with flexible mounting options and quick, easy commissioning. Choose an equipment package with our patented Shadow Drive technology and simply turn the helm to take control of the boat. Maintain a steady course to re-engage the equipment. It can be integrated with compatible Garmin electronics to control the autopilot from the plotter's display. And it can be activated to follow an Auto Guidance route 3 (requires BlueChart ® g3).

Full integration with Garmin electronics
When combined with our compatible network electronics, you get full control of the Compact Reactor 40 from anywhere on the boat. In addition to staying on course in virtually all weather conditions, the system can easily perform a variety of pre-programmed trolling and searching procedures. And with BlueChart g2 Vision HD charts (sold separately) you get functions such as Auto Guidance 3 , which automatically guides GPS routes.
Stay in control with Shadow Drive technology
The Compact Reactor 40 supports the patented Shadow Drive technology (optional). You gain peace of mind knowing that you are always in control, even when the autopilot is activated. The Shadow Drive system automatically deactivates the autopilot if the rudder is turned, giving you the freedom to maneuver the boat. The autopilot automatically switches on again when you maintain a fixed course.
Connect to network devices
The Compact Reactor 40 can be operated directly from your compatible Garmin chartplotter display 1 or by using up to 3 GHC rudder control units. The GHC communicates with the autopilot system via your NMEA 2000® network, so heading data from the autopilot can be easily shared with other devices. This allows for MARPA and chart overlay when connected to a Garmin radar and plotter. A handheld wireless remote control (optional) is also available.
1 Not recommended for fishing or applications where heading must be maintained while trolling or at low speeds. For applications that require accurate course control while trolling or at low speeds, our higher performance Reactor 40 models are recommended.
