Garmin Panoptix: Get ready for a redefinition of the word "sonar". Panoptix opens up a new world for serious anglers. While a traditional sonar shows history - what you've already sailed over - Panoptix provides a real-time view underwater: See fish swimming through the sonar cone ... see exactly where a school of fish is in relation to your boat ... follow your bait on its way to the boat and see the fish's reactions to it! Panoptix is technology unique to Garmin – unlike anything you've ever seen. Everything is built into the transducer itself, which simply connects to the network port of a compatible chartplotter.
Panoptix comes in two different main versions: Down and Forward. With Panoptix Down, you get the opportunity to choose between three presentations:
LiveVü™ Down
Sonar images with real-time motion. Shows fish swimming around the boat – and your bait – in real time.
RealVü™ 3D Down
See everything going on around the boat, even when you are lying still - in 3D.
RealVü™ 3D Historical
Used to locate fish when your boat is in motion. Shows the entire water column that you have passed in 3D from bottom to surface with all the fish in between.
