The harbor guide 9 describes 255 natural and guest harbors in Göta Å, Vänern, Dalsland Kanal, Vikingaleden, Göta Kanal and Vättern. Here, well-known and lesser-known natural harbors are described, tips on routes are given, and the guest harbors are detailed with service and extra options. All ports are presented with a detailed port guide map, a helicopter image, a guide text and a fact box. When the 2nd edition of Hamnguiden 8 was published in 2016, the new Hamnguide maps were something new that had never before appeared in a nautical chart context. It was a success and since then Hamnguiden 7 has been published and now there is also a new edition of Hamnguiden 9 with new Hamnguide maps. All Harbor guide charts in the book are produced by Hydrographica and are based on Hydrographica's proven ocean surveying technology with 3D aerial photographs as a basis. Each harbor guide chart has also been checked and verified through additional on-site ocean measurements. The harbor guide maps also have an advanced topographical report based on the very latest technology with laser scanning of the terrain. You get precise elevation curves, in this case with 2.5 meter equidistance, but you also get the option to use shadow effects to create a 3D sense of terrain shapes as a supplement to the traditional elevation curves. With this technology, it becomes very easy to assess in advance the characteristics of a port and to determine where the best sheltered positions are, or where the islands are flat and the risk of wind is greater. The helicopter images and markings give you a quick overview of each port with its atmosphere, facilities, sailing routes, dangers and mooring options. Special stones and soil to think about are marked in the pictures. The text in Hamnguiden 9 is divided into a general and a maritime part. The general part describes the history of the place, nature and tips on various activities available in the port. The maritime section provides information on where it is calm and safe to lie down, how to moor safely and what to pay particular attention to.
