ODEO Distress is the latest generation of electronic visual distress signals (eVDSD). The world is starting to recognize LED technology instead of traditional pyrotechnic flares. This has led to further development and improvement of the ground-breaking ODEO Flare design and improvement of the product once again.
New standards and regulations are still being discussed by the USCG and RTCM; These will result in an alternative standard for replacing pyrotechnics. While this work continues, users of emergency flares can already reap the benefits and take advantage of the latest technology.
Overview:
Traditional blinds light for about 30 seconds before switching off, Odeo Distress lights for about 8 hours at full illumination. As no pyrotechnics are used, the Odeo product range is completely safe when switched off and because it uses battery power (High Power Lithium or Alkaline cells) it can even be safely shipped or carried in luggage on planes.
