OLAS Core is a compact, portable overboard alarm and lighting system. It reacts within 2 seconds of a person falling overboard and can be easily switched between vessels. The OLAS Core can connect to up to 15 OLAS transmitters and cover a ship up to 50ft.
What does it do?
Core wirelessly tracks OLAS transmitters around the ship. When a person wearing a transmitter falls overboard, the built-in alarm is triggered and a high-power red emergency light provides visual indication and illuminates the surrounding area, all within 4 seconds.
As well as triggering the alarm, the Core connects to the free OLAS app which provides an easy-to-read course back to the alert position plus key MOB last known position information and an auto-populated VHF prompt screen to support the crew during the stress of a recovery.
Why use OLAS CORE
Core alerts skippers to a MOB incident and alerts the entire crew immediately so immediate rescue action can be taken.
Losing a crew member is every sailor's worst nightmare. The larger the boat, the more difficult it can be to immediately know that a MOB incident has occurred, especially in the dark with crew members in front of the mast.
It can happen even under good conditions. Although it is advisable to wear a lifeline, it is not always practical and is no guarantee of survival if the boat is moving and the skipper is not immediately aware of the incident.
